Daniel and David's Poem

Here is a copy of the poem Tracy wrote and then read at graduation for Daniel and David.

In July we all called them The Double D's

For Driven and Diligent, Delightful and Dear

They thirsted for knowledge, scoped out new procedures

High fived and bumped chests

So pumped up for this year

They relished each phone call and each message basket

Each aberrant drug screen addressed with a smile

Each consult note penned as a labor of love

Each irb protocol giddily filed

And then allodynia to training set in

And their pain is refractory to coping skills past

No Home Depot hot dogs or Wendy's can soothe them

Attention from drug reps has lost luster fast

Dan's fibromyalgia's resistant to midol

And Kesha and Whitesnake can't lift David's mood

Dan's Harley's -both scooter and dog-are mere bandaids

They've even slowed down on expanding their broods

But fellows take heed, I hold here in my hand

Something better than soma, makes lortab seem lame

More fun than a stim trial

More thrilling than detox

A cognitive behavioral change in the game

Behold your certificates

Both should be proud

You've been stellar the both of you, it's been a ball

Look forward to having you both as my colleagues
